Subject: Virginia's Rushed Legislative Process and Pending Animal RightistBills
A VHDOA message to dog owning sportsmen about protecting their traditions, avocations and livelihoods from anti-hunting, anti-breeding, animal guardianship advocates. Forwarding and cross posting, with attribution, encouraged.

Dear Virginia Sportsmen and Dog Owners,
Tomorrow's 8:30 AM General Assembly House AG Committee meeting agenda contains 23 measures, including the very disturbing HB339 and HB340, the AR Dangerous Dog and License Fee Increase Bills. The only way that our legislature can handle 70-80 bills each and every day during its short sessions is to not read most before voting on them. Bills reported by a subcommittee are routinely rubber-stamped by full committees, bundled up and sent to the floor for quick passage, unless some party raises a strong objection. You must raise that strong objection.
Only a modest number of people have objected to HB339 and HB340 using the preprogrammed legislator contacts at http://vhdoa.uplandbirddog.com/VA.AG.Ctmes.html These are seriously bad bills that must be killed. Please add your voice to that of others who value their sport and dogs. Due to the sheer volume of email traffic directed at Richmond, it's extremely important that you follow-up today's emails with phone calls to confirm receipt and to reinforce your opposition message.
Other VHDOA-monitored House AG bills seem under control, or materially changed.
HB1061 Sale of bear parts is doomed. Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF), the game warden's association, VHDOA and the Virginia Bear Hunters Association are all strongly opposed.
The very actively lobbied DGIF Board reorganization, governance and Director appointment bills, HB362, HB1130, HB1131 and HB938 are understood to have been substantially rewritten and/or consolidated.
Please do your part to help kill HB339 and HB340 today. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Bob Kane, President
Virginia Hunting Dog Owners' Association
